Abdominoplasty
Lipoabdominoplasty
The aim of this surgery is to restore the shape and definition of the abdomen.
Concepts of beauty and body weight change over time and civilisations, but a slim waist and a flat, defined abdomen have been admired since ancient times.
In more than 95 per cent of my clinical cases, I associate liposuction of the abdomen with abdominoplasty, a procedure called LIPOABDOMINOPLASTY. This allows the treatment of sagging muscles and skin and excess subcutaneous fat.
Patients who opt for this surgery are usually women after childbirth and women or men who have lost a lot of body weight.
In this surgery we treat:
- Skin excess
- Subcutaneous fat excess
- Diastasis of the Rectus Abdominis Muscles
When there is no or very little excess skin, but you have the “tummy” of a 3-4 month pregnant woman, we correct the infra-umbilical muscle diastasis, usually associated with liposuction of the abdomen. This procedure is called MINI-ABDOMINOPLASTY.
The navel is a detail that I value very highly, because it’s an anatomical region that accentuates female sensuality.
Surgery
The surgery is performed under sedation and epidural or general anaesthesia.
It lasts between 2h and 2h30.
The patient stays overnight in the clinic for greater comfort and safety.
Post-surgery
The patient leaves the clinic with a compression strap and abdominal sponge plate.
The most important indications are:
- Use of the compression belt;
- No physical exertion.
The patient can return to their professional life after 10-15 days, if they don’t have a manual labour job.
Light sporting activity can be resumed after 4 weeks.
