Facial Plastic

Surgery

Facial Plastic Surgery is recommended mainly for people with facial ageing or excessive sagging of the face. It is also the solution to the famous jowls, which bother both men and women.

Aesthetic Surgery of the Face

Facial rejuvenation has undergone a profound change in the last decade. Instead of “stretching” the skin, we try to reposition the facial tissues where they were years ago, thus achieving a natural and personalised beauty. In other words, the patient looks younger… and not like someone else.

In addition to this concept, there is the complementarity between surgical procedures, lipofilling (the introduction of your own fat), surgical dermabrasion and aesthetic medicine (botulinum toxin, hyaluronic acid, facial volumetrisation and/or biostimulation products, peels, lasers, etc.).

The plastic surgeon must master all these techniques in order to achieve the best possible rejuvenation.
The aim of surgery is to combat the structural signs of an ageing or drooping face, restoring a fresher, younger appearance.

Surgery must avoid the stigma of the “old days”… that patients all looked the same… it is essential to maintain the personalisation of each human being.

Surgery

The surgery is performed under sedation and local anaesthesia or under general anaesthesia.

It lasts 3-4 hours.

It is recommended that the patient spend the night in the clinic, and it can be done on an outpatient basis.
Usually the patient leaves the clinic with their hair washed and no bandages on their head.

Post-surgery

The most important indications are

  • Lack of effort;
  • Ice several times a day on the face;
  • Don’t lower your head;
  • Sleep with 2 pillows.

These recommendations are essential for 7 days.
The return to socio-professional life takes an average of 12-20 days.

Blepharoplasty

Lift the eyelids and eliminate fat pockets

Blepharoplasty is the aesthetic plastic surgery of the eyelids and is the most common surgery on the face, after rhinoplasty. It is a surgery that has a great impact on facial rejuvenation, making the eyes look lighter and fresher.

It is a very common surgery from the third decade of life onwards, and I emphasise its importance from the sixth decade onwards, as it allows for a wider field of vision, making all the difference to patients’ quality of life.
In eyelid rejuvenation surgery, the skin and/or muscles and/or fat are treated.

Surgery

It takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on whether it treats 2 or all 4 eyelids.
It is performed under local anaesthesia or under sedation and local anaesthesia.

Post-surgery

The stitches are removed after 5 to 7 days, and during this week the patient should:

  • Apply ice;
  • Avoid bending the head down;
  • Wear sunglasses whenever outside.

Rhinoplasty

Change the shape of your nose

The nose is at the centre of the face and makes a decisive contribution to facial beauty and/or harmony. A nose that doesn’t look good on a face is like a curtain pulled down on a window… when we look at the face, the nose imposes itself, often preventing us from contemplating the beauty of the face.

It is the most commonly performed facial plastic surgery in the world, which is an excellent indicator of patients’ willingness to change a nose that they consider to be misshapen or unaesthetic.
If there are functional changes in the nose, they should be treated in the same surgery, and it is very common to combine septoplasty (nasal septum surgery) with nasal pyramid surgery in order to obtain the best possible result.
The final result can take 1 or 2 years, especially at the nasal tip, although in most cases we have an approximate final result in 6 months.
Preoperative appointments are essential to clarify all doubts and expectations.

Surgery

The surgery takes an average of 1 to 2 hours.
It is performed under sedation or general anaesthesia.

Post-surgery

In the post-operative period, the most important thing is:

  • Application of ice;
  • No physical activity for 3 to 4 weeks;
  • Don’t keep your head down for the first few days.

The return to socio-professional life takes between 1 and 2 weeks.

Otoplasty

Improves the shape, position and proportion of the ear

The most common malformation is abducted or prominent ears, also known as “floppy ears”.

This deformity is characterised by the high projection or detachment of the ears in relation to the skull and should be treated from the age of 5, when the size of the ears is practically that of adulthood, thus avoiding stigma and ridicule from schoolmates.

Surgery

In adults, surgery is performed under local anaesthesia and in children under sedation.

Post-surgery

In the post-operative period, it is essential to

  • Apply ice;
  • Use a headband for 15 days.

The patient resumes their social and professional life between 1 and 2 weeks after surgery.
